It's Hungry Ghost month!
Apparently, the gates of hell have been opened and the dead walk among the living.
Many Chinese, Taoists and Buddhists are offering them food and burning paper effigies.
This month hurts the Chinese economy because people don't spend much during the Hungry Ghost Festival because apparently ghosts don't like when people buy things, like food or cars or other silly mortal things that ghosts frown upon.
It's 2006 and people really haven't evolved much have they?
We're really only a generation away from the villagers who sacrificed the virgin to the volcano.
People in Africa still hack off others' limbs for witchcraft.
Don't break mirrors. Don't walk under ladders.
People. Huh.
