Doctor leads time travel research

Although interesting, I don't think the good doctor will succeed, because if he does, I'm pretty sure I would have had a knock on my door, and upon opening it I would have met an older version of me, who would have promptly punched me in the face.

Unless, time travel becomes exclusive for the rich, who could alter world events that would benefit their companies and keep their martini glasses and dungeons filled. But they would never do that.
